Create a Professional Goal

Professional Goals allow teachers to focus on areas of growth that will strengthen their practice and support student learning. These goals are designed to help you reflect on your teaching, set measurable targets, and track progress over time as part of your professional development journey.

Goals are created by the appraisee. These goals have a lifecycle of steps from creation to completion.

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Goals tab.

2. Click Add Goal button and select the Professional Goal.

✓The Add Professional Goal window opens.

3. Type the following details:

  • Goal Statement
  • Accomplishment Criteria
  • Start date
  • End date

4. Select the relevant T-TESS dimension(s).

5. Click Save.

Professional Goal – Add Action

After saving a goal, the appraisee can add Actions (milestones) to the goal.

1. In the Actions dropdown, click Add Action.

✓ The Add Action window opens.

2. Type the Action Statement and the Due Date.

3. Click Save.

✓ The Action will be added to your goal.

Note: The appraisee can Edit and Delete the action by clicking on the more options button.

Professional Goal – Add Evidence

1. In the Evidence dropdown, click Add Evidence.

✓The Add Evidence window opens.

2. Type the Title, and Description, and select a Course.

3. Click file options to attach/remove the evidence document.

4. Click Save.

✓The evidence will be added to your goal.

Note: The appraisee can Edit and Delete the evidence by clicking on the more options button.

Submit a Professional Goal

  1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Goal tab.
  2. Locate the goal you want to submit and click the goal title.

✓ The goal window opens.

3. Click Submit

The message “Are you sure you want to submit the goal?” appears. Click Ok.

✓ Your professional goal will be submitted to the appraiser.

Note: At this stage, the appraisee will wait for the appraiser to review and accept the goal. The appraisee will be notified once the goal has been accepted.

Accomplish a Professional Goal

After your goal has been accepted, you will continue working on the goal, collecting evidence of progress, and maintaining communication with your Appraiser. Once you feel the goal has been achieved, you can mark it as Accomplished for your Appraiser to review.

Note: The Mark Accomplished button appears when the Goal status is Accepted.

1. In the Professional Goals tab, locate the goal and click its title.

✓ The goal window opens.

2. Click Mark Accomplished.

The message “Are you sure you want to mark the goal as accomplished?” appears. Click Ok.

✓ Your professional goal will be marked as accomplished.

Note: Now the appraisee will wait for the appraiser mark the goal as completed. The appraisee will receive a notification when the goal is marked as completed.

Create a Student Growth Goal

Student Growth Goals are designed to support intentional instructional planning and delivery that lead to measurable student growth. At the start of the year, teachers collaborate with their Appraiser, peers, and support staff to determine a focus area, create an instructional plan, and establish a baseline of student learning. In the Appraiser application, these goals are documented, tracked, and updated throughout the year.

The Appraisee can create Student Growth Goals (SLOs) using the Goals screen.

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Goals tab.

2. Click Add Goal and select Student Growth Goal.

✓ The Add Student Growth Goal window opens.

3. In the Basic tab, type the following details:

  • Goal Statement
  • Click Attach Standards and select subject name, standard set, and grade/courses from filters and then select standards relevant to your goal.
  • Response to the question “What led to the decision to focus on this content area and the SLO skill focus?”
  • Start date
  • End date

4. Click Save.

5. In the Students tab, click Select Students button.

✓ The Assign Students window opens.

6. Choose the preferred students by applying various search filters including:

  • School name
  • Course title
  • Grade level
  • Number of periods
  • Ethnicity

7. Click Select.

8. Click Save.

9. In the Skill Focus Area tab, click Add Skill Focus Area.

✓ The Add Skill Focus Area pop-up opens.

10. In the Skill Focus Area Statement text box, type the skill focus area statement.

11. Click Save.

12. Click the Skill Focus Area dropdown and click Add Skill Levels.

✓ The Add Skill Level pop-up opens.

13. Enter the following:

  • Title
  • Initial Skill Description
  • Target Skill Description

14. Click Save.

Note: Add all the Skill levels similarly and track the student growth.

15. Click Student Growth.

✓ The Student Growth window opens.

16. Click the Edit icon to set the Initial, target and EOY Skill levels for students.

Note: After you set the Initial, Target, and EOY skill levels, the system will automatically calculate each student’s growth in the Student Growth column.

17. Click Save.

✓ The calculated student growth will reflect in the Student Growth section.

18. Click the Notes tab.

19. In the Optional Notes, type any optional notes related to your SLO.

20. Click Save.

Student Growth Goal – Add Action

The appraisee can add actions (milestones) to the SLOs.

1. In the Basic tab, expand the Action dropdown.

2. Click Add Action.

✓ The Add Action pop-up opens.

3. In the Action Statement text box, type the statement.

4. Select the Due Date and click Save.

✓ The Action will be added to your SLO.

Note: The appraisee can Edit and Delete the action by clicking on the more options button.

Student Growth Goal – Add Evidence

The appraisee can add Evidence documents to the SLOs.

1. In the Basic tab, expand the Evidence dropdown.

2. Click Add Evidence.

✓ The Add Evidence window opens.

3. Type the Title, and Description, and select a Course.

4. Click file options to attach/remove the evidence document.

5. Click Save.

✓ The evidence is added to your SLO.

Note: The appraisee can Edit and Delete the evidence by clicking on the more options button.

Submit a Student Growth Goal

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Goal tab.

2. Click the Student Growth Goal tab.

3. Locate the goal you want to submit and click the goal title.

✓ The Student Growth Goal window opens.

4. Click Submit.

The message “Are you sure you want to submit the goal?” appears. Click Ok.

✓ Your student growth goal will be submitted to the appraiser.

Note: At this stage, the appraisee will wait for the appraiser to review and accept the goal. The appraisee will be notified once the goal has been accepted.

Accomplish a Student Growth Goal

After the appraiser accepts the goal, the appraisee will mark it as Accomplished.

Note: The Mark Accomplished button appears when the Goal status is Accepted.

1. In the Student Growth Goals tab, locate the goal and click its title.

✓ The goal window opens.

2. Click Mark Accomplished.

The message “Are you sure you want to mark the goal as accomplished?” appears. Click Ok.

✓ Your student growth goal will be marked as accomplished.

Note: Now the appraisee will wait for the appraiser mark the goal as completed. The appraisee will receive a notification when the goal is marked as completed.

Perform Evaluation Tasks

After logging into the Appraiser application, you will land on My Evaluation Page. If your Appraiser has assigned you an Appraisee category (e.g., T-TESS Teacher, T-PESS Principal), you will see the tasks associated with that category. As part of your Evaluation tasks, you are responsible for attaching evaluation forms and goals, and submitting them to your Appraiser through the My Evaluation screen.

Attach a Form

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Evaluations Tab.

2. Click any activity you want to perform.

Note: In Appraiser, Activities are evaluation tasks such as Observations, Walkthroughs, End-of-Year Conference, Student Growth Goals, Goal Setting, and PD Plans. When you click an activity, you will access the related forms or goals to complete.

Note: You can only attach forms or goals to tasks that have the responsibility mentioned as Appraisee.

3. Click the plus icon.

✓The Attach Form window opens.

4. Select a Form Template, and type the date and other optional details.

5. Click Save.

✓The form will be attached to the task.

Submit a Form

1. After the form has been attached, click the title of the form.

✓The form window will open.

2. Populate the form and click Save.

3. Click Submit.

The message “Are you sure you want to submit the ' T-TESS Teacher Self Assessment And Goal Setting' form? Opens. Click Ok.

✓The form will be submitted and the form status will be updated to Submitted to Appraiser.

Sign a Form

Your Appraiser will review and approve the form you submitted. Once approved, the form status will change to Approved by Appraiser, and the Sign button will become available to you.

1. Click the title of the form.

2. Click Sign.

✓The Signature window opens.

✓The Security Question window opens.

3. In the Response text box, type your answer.

Note: The task will be completed when the form is signed by both the appraiser and the appraisee.

Remove a Form

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Evaluations Tab.

2. Click the activity of your choice to expand it.

3. Locate the remove icon and click it.

The message “Are you sure want to remove this form ' T-TESS Teacher Self Assessment And Goal Setting'? opens, Click OK

✓The form will be removed from the task.

Attach a Goal

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Evaluations Tab.

2. Click the activity with the Goal task.

Note: You can only attach forms or goals to tasks that have the responsibility mentioned as Appraisee.

3. Click the plus icon.

✓ The Add Goal window opens.

4. In the Goal dropdown, select the goal of your choice.

Note: Only goals with status Accepted, Accomplished, or Completed will appear in this dropdown.

5. Click Save.

✓ The goal will be attached to the task.

Remove a Goal

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Evaluations Tab.

2. Click the activity of your choice to expand it.

3. Locate the remove icon next to your attached goal and click it.

The message “Are you sure want to remove this goal 'Improve student engagement and academic performance by implementing differentiated instruction strategies in the classroom.'? opens, Click OK.

✓The goal will be removed from the task.

Manage Pending Signatures

Using the Pending Signatures screen, the Appraisee can view forms awaiting signatures and submission and send email reminders to the Appraiser when a form due date is approaching, prompting the Appraiser to take the required action such as approving submitted forms or marking them as viewable.

Sign Forms

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the Pending Signatures tab.

2. Locate the form with the pending signatures.

Note: Forms with pending signatures will have a Sign button in the Action column.

3. Click Sign.

✓ The form window opens.

Note: The appraisee can review the form in the pop-up before signing it.

4. Click Sign.

✓The Signature window opens.

  1. Click Sign.

✓The Security Question window opens.

  1. In the Response text box, type your answer.
  2. Click Sign.

✓ Your signatures will be added to the form.

Submit Forms

1. In the Pending Signatures tab, locate the form with status Form not submitted by Appraisee.

2. Click Submit Form.

✓ The form window opens.

Note: The appraisee can review the form in the pop-up before submitting it.

3. Click Submit.

The message “Are you sure you want to submit the 'T-TESS Pre Conference Form' form?” opens, Click OK.

✓The form will be submitted to the Appraiser.

Send Reminders

The Appraisee can send email reminders to the Appraiser when a form due date is approaching, prompting the Appraiser to take the required action such as approving or marking forms as viewable.

Approve Form – Email Reminder

1. In the Pending Signatures tab, locate the form with status Pending approval from Appraiser.

2. Click the Email icon.

✓ The Send Email Reminder pop-up appears.

3. Click Send Email Reminder.

✓ The email reminder to approve the form will be sent to the appraiser.

Mark Viewable – Email Reminder

Forms attached by the Appraiser (e.g., Observations, Walkthroughs) remain inaccessible for the Appraisee until the Appraiser marks them viewable.

4. In the Pending Signatures tab, locate the form with status Form not marked viewable by Appraiser.

5. Click the Email icon.

✓ The Send Email Reminder pop-up appears.

6. Click Send Email Reminder.

✓ The email reminder to mark the form viewable will be sent to the appraiser.

Bulk Email Reminders

The Appraisee can send bulk email reminders to the Appraiser for forms that require attention. This includes:

  • Forms pending approval from the Appraiser.
  • Forms not marked as viewable by the Appraiser.

By using this option, the Appraisee can notify the Appraiser in one action instead of sending reminders for each form individually.

1. Click Send Reminder to All.

✓ The Send Reminder to All popup appears.

2. Select the checkbox of your choice.

3. Click Send Email Reminder.

✓ The email reminders will be sent to the appraiser according to your selection.

Manage History Tab

The Appraisee can access the History tab to view and download evaluation forms from previous years.

1. In the My Evaluation module, click the History tab.

2. Locate the form you want to download and click the download icon.

✓ The form will be downloaded to your device.
